R4R Royal Spotlight: The Future of the British Monarchy

A geneticist and an illustrator worked together to compile a list of dominant traits from both William and Catherine’s families in order to scientifically predict Baby Cambridge’s physical appearance in 25 years.

According to them, the child will have:

  • brunette hair (dominant trait from Catherine)
  • full lips (dominant trait from William)
  • cheek dimples (dominant trait from Catherine)
  • free hanging earlobes (dominant trait from both parents)
  • almond-shaped eyes (dominant trait from Catherine)
  • olive-toned skin (dominant trait from Catherine)
  • Oval-shaped face (dominant trait from both parents)
  • Mountbatten* family nose (dominant trait from William, through Charles and Philip)
  • Neither parent’s eye color is dominant, so the child has a 50% of inheriting either blue eyes (from William) or green eyes (from Catherine). In the illustrations, the son has blue eyes and the daughter has green.

This same illustrator also created an image of William and Catherine in 50 years time. Although, this blogger thinks he may have been a little generous with the hair *ahem*.

Is the bald spot a dominant trait?
